The beautiful estate offers peace, space, privacy and complete escape from everyday life. The charming cottage is ideal for a family or a longer stay for, for example, (returning) expats, diplomats, etc. The entire house is at your disposal and is fully equipped. Due to its attractive location in the Green Heart of the Netherlands, Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague Schiphol and Amsterdam can be reached within an hour by car. In addition, there are many opportunities for activities in the area, such as mountain biking, cycling, walking or visiting picturesque villages and towns. But perhaps even better: stroll through the estate's gardens and orchards or retreat with a good book for a weekend.
This charming dike house is located on a plot of over 4390m2 on the historic estate "Huis te Jaarsveld" and overlooks the River Lek, the idyllic moat, and the meadows with sheep and alpacas. There is no shortage of nature in Jaarsveld. The clatter of the storks on the church (visible from the living room) in the spring. White swans, black swans, herons, spotted woodpeckers, a kingfisher, blackbirds, robins, greenfinches, swallows, flocks of starlings, owls, sparrowhawks and much more!
Long walks through the dreamy river floodplains. Apples from the orchard, delicious plums and fresh vegetables from the vegetable garden. Peace, freedom, lots of space and a very special history of the estate.

LOCATION
The house is located on the edge of the village of Jaarsveld, in the middle of the Green Heart of the Province of Utrecht. There are good connections to Utrecht (A2) and Rotterdam (A27/A15) and Schoonhoven and IJsselstein can be reached in 10 minutes by car.
PIECE OF HISTORY OF THE HOUSE
This unique dike house is classified separately under the Nature Conservation Act and is adjacent to the large estate, but does have its own cadastral number.
We would also like to take you through history. Old drawings of the estate “Huis te Jaarsveld” show a house on the dike over many centuries. The current dike house was built in 1888.
The dike house is connected to the former castle island by a canal. The "Veldenstein" castle was built there in 1384. The castle has been a battle scene several times: the disputes between the Hoeken and Kabeljauwen, the battles between the City of Utrecht and the lords of Vianen, and two wars with the French. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times, until the last war of 1672. In 1760, the famous family of Cornelis and Johan de Witt built the current country house on the front island. Many famous historical persons owned the estate, including Anna van Buuren, the first wife of Prince William of Orange. Even the famous poet Vondel wrote about the pleasant location of the estate on the River Lek.
For a real experience it is of course possible to view this house on location!
